Contemporary artists in a dialogue with the Prado Museum


Prestigious contemporary Spanish artists revelling in the Prado Museum, its works, its different spaces and its essence. This is what the Francisco Godía Foundation of Barcelona has presented in the show “The Prado Museum and Contemporary Artists”. A selection of 50 works produced by 24 contemporary Spanish artists who have maintained a dialogue with the Prado Museum, with its source in the series ‘The Prado Museum seen by twelve contemporary Spanish artists’ (1989-1990) and its second edition in 2007, in this case from a female viewpoint, which are now merged and presented as a whole.

Curated by the professor of art history Francisco Calvo Serraller and organised by the Friends of the Prado Museum Foundation and the Francisco Godía Foundation, which enjoyed the collaboration of Japan Tobacco International (JTI), it has brought together figures of the renown of Andreu Alfaro, Eduardo Arroyo, Isabel Baquedano, Miquel Barceló, Carmen Calvo, Naia del Castillo, Eduardo Chillida, Cristina García Rodero, Ramón Gaya, Luis Gordillo, Cristina Iglesias, Carmen Laffón, Eva Lootz, Blanca Muñoz, Ouka Leele, Guillermo Pérez Villalta, Isabel Quintanilla, Albert Ràfols-Casamada, Manuel Rivera, Gerardo Rueda, Antonio Saura, Soledad Sevilla, Susana Solano and Gustavo Torner.
