IVRV House: innovative, affordable and sustainable

The students of the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) of Los Angeles have collaborated in the construction project of the sustainable IVRH House with Habitat for Humanity, an international charity organisation devoted to the construction of homes for people with low resources.

The project’s focus consisted of incorporating strategies to reduce air pollutants. With this end in mind, the students designed “the Eco-Screen”, an element designed to capture energy, clean the air and provide a safe and shady outdoor space for the residents.

The result is a sculptural house that, with a triangular cut-out on the right top edge, recalls a jewel.
