As part of the Designers’ Saturday, USM, together with Geneva University of Art and Design (HEAD), presented its “A breathing grid” installation in a unique space: a typical old Swiss three-storey barn located in the “City Center / Mühlehof” area.
The Swiss modular systems company had already collaborated with other higher schools of fine arts in 2015. On this occasion it commissioned HEAD with the design of its installation, giving an opportunity to young students (future designers) to create and experiment in a quest for their own conceptual style through the perfect modularity of the iconic USM system.
The installation comprised mainly rigid and static structures that contrasted with the lightness and movement of the cloud-shaped plastic material situated in the interior.
Other objects such as vases of different heights and lamps completed the proposal of designs made from components of the USM system, following the brand’s principles: modularity, quality and flexibility.
