Offfset is a collection of three sets designed by Ernest Perera for his producer Amor de Madre. Each version, comprising six pieces in beech wood and based on a geometric shape, allows endless combinations to be created.
Offfset One is based on the ellipse and evokes the organic shapes of Antoni Gaudí’s architecture, although it also reflects reminiscences of the work of the sculptor Alexander Calder. Offfset Two is based on the golden rectangle, a proportion we find in the pyramids of Giza and in the Parthenon as well as in the modern architecture of Le Corbusier. Offfset Three is based on the volume of the vestibule of Frank Gehry’s Guggenheim Museum.
The series has been devised for exercising the mind—or relaxing it, depending on how you look at it—while we enjoy playing like children or imagining ourselves an architect or a sculptor.
