We have a new appointment with ARCOmadrid, the International Contemporary Art Fair that transforms Madrid into the capital of international contemporary art in February.
The event will assemble a total of 199 galleries, 159 in the general programme, plus three curated sections: “Argentina ARCO Platform” with 12 galleries, “Dialogues” with 12 and “Opening” with 16 galleries.
The principal novelty at the 36th staging will be Argentina’s special participation as guest country and its outreach in Madrid through different initiatives in the city’s principal museums and art centres.
The presence of prominent professionals from the world of art, and the intense schedule of meetings, propitiates the event again becoming a platform for reflection and exchange of ideas and projects. The “Professional Meetings” sessions will seek to drive synergies between critics, galleries and artists. The “Forum” will offer sessions on collecting and will be the meeting point for more than 240 current collectors from around the world.
The trade fair will again host the “Museum Work Session”, which will bring together more than 30 museum and art centre directors and representatives to exchange projects. In the same line, and for the sixth consecutive year, the “Meeting of Museums from Europe and Latin America” will be staged.
This edition will dedicate special attention to architecture and design, with the study conducted by the Madrid Higher Technical School of Architecture (ETSAM) on ARCOmadrid and its architectural, circulation and space possibilities.
