PhotoEspaña 2017

The most important international festival of photography and visual arts in Spain celebrated its 20th anniversary with an ambitious programme of 100 exhibitions, with works by more than 500 artists and around twenty activities for professionals and for the general public.

The 62 venues that participated in the event had the aim of reviewing what these 20 years have represented in the field of the photographic arts. The 2017 edition examined the past, the present and the future with some major figures from the field of photography, together with the most topical authors: a combination of points of view that provides a novel vision.

These are some of the proposals that could be seen in the festival: "Una + dos" (One + Two), a collective exhibition by Marta Soul, David Delgado Ruiz and Andy Sotiriou, at the Bat Alberto Cornejo GALLERY; “Gabriele Basilico. Entropía y espacio urbano“ (Gabriele Basilico. Entropy and the urban space), the first major retrospective in Spain of this Italian photographer, at the ICO Museum; “Con los ojos bien abiertos. Cien años de fotografía Leica” (With eyes wide open. A hundred years of Leica photography), with almost 400 photographs, documents, interviews and objects on loan from private collections and museums as well as documentary material conserved by the Leica Archive, at the Telefónica Foundation Space; “Café Lehmitz”, by Anders Petersen and “Pistas de baile” (Dance Floors), by Teresa Margolles, at the Centrocentro Cibeles.
