Drawing Room Madrid 2018


In its third edition (21 to 25 February), this trade fair specialising in contemporary drawing opened its headquarters in the Círculo de Bellas Artes, the Fine Arts Circle, where 30 galleries showcased their artists in a larger and better-adapted space.

The event saw an increase in international presence, since 30% of the selected galleries came from outside Spain. A total of 7 countries participated, an opportunity for discovering the work of emerging and consolidated artists from different continents such as Stefano Bonacci, of Italy; Reiko Tsunashima, of Japan; Wieteke Heldens, of the Netherlands; Navid Azimi Sajedi and Solmaz Cornet, of Iran, and the Israeli collective  Broken Fingaz Crew, among others.

Offsite, the programme that run parallel to the trade fair, presented the 2nd Collecting Contemporary Drawings Encounter at the ABC Drawing and Illustration Museum, which attracted experts from Europe and United States who head institutions devoted exclusively to contemporary drawing or who possess a working line in this field. The encounter also featured the presence of some prominent drawing collectors, who spoke of their collections and of the art of collecting works on paper.
