Madrid Design Festival

Product and industrial design, graphic design, architecture, communication, interior decoration… all disciplines were present at the first edition of the Madrid Design Festival (from 1 to 28 February), founded with the triple objective of promoting design, championing its ability to transform the world and putting itself in the context of the major international meets.

The initiative, promoted by La Fábrica, offered throughout the month of February 200 activities featuring the participation of 320 designers and professionals, among them Jaime Hayon, Erwan Bouroullec, Jasper Morrison, Rossana Orlandi, Daan Roosegaarde, Martí Guixé, Abbott Miller, Inma Bermúdez, Jeffrey Ludlow, Toni Segarra, Fernando Gutiérrez, Teresa Sapey, Juan Herreros, Oskar Zieta, Nacho Carbonell and Mischer ´Traxler.

The comprehensive programme was divided into exhibitions, workshops, professional encounters, conferences and urban installations. Some of the city’s major museums also took part in the event, with tour proposals created for enjoying the pieces in their collections that are most closely linked to design.

The festival’s guest city, Helsinki, brought a comprehensive programme of activities to showcase the best of Finnish design.

MadridDesignPRO offered at the COAM more than 100 hours of professional activities, with more than 70 guests congregated in Madrid with the common goal of “Redesigning the World”.
