Rewriting of farming tools

MAR/2018

Odo Fioravanti and Giulio Iacchetti are two Milan-based designers recognised with the Compasso d’Oro ADI awards, both of them raised in rural contexts. In collaboration with other young designers, they have embarked on a project to update farming implements, instruments historically characterised by an obsessive repetition of shapes and sizes and virtually unaltered since the Bronze Age.

The result of their innovative ideas is a small collection of “cutting irons”: 7 billhooks redesigned as contemporary objects to which they have applied greater functionality and a new aesthetic dignity.

The collection was on display in Barcelona from 1 to 9 March at the exhibition entitled “Ferri Taglienti: Designing ecotools for future agriculture”, part of the Italian Design Day 2018.
