Design does

24.03.18 - 13.05.18

What role does a designer play and will be playing in the future, as an strategic solutions provider, a humanist and/or an agent of change?

“Design does” showcases how design gives shape to the global challenges of our society. The project, co-produced by ELISAVA (Barcelona school of Desing and Engineering) and Barcelona Design Museum, aims to transcend the limits of space, time and conventional formats to explore the responsibility design has in its impact on industry, society and culture.

The exhibition is based around a set of questions about today’s main challenges (sustainability, connectivity, marginalisation, consumerism, innovation, new materials and so on) answered by 15 projects of local and international designers. It thereby seeks to establish a dialogue between designers and the new models of life—accelerated, complex, cybernetic, plural—in order to encourage participation and the generation of knowledge that nourishes the transdisciplinary practice of design.
