The work of Clotet and Tusquets, at the Architects’ Association of Catalonia

Until 7 April 2018

Since February, the Barcelona headquarters of the COAC has been hosting an exhibition on the work of the Catalan architects Lluís Clotet and Òscar Tusquets. It features a comprehensive selection of the works completed in the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s through plans, drawings, photographs, documents and objects. Clotet and Tusquets started their collaboration in 1964 (when they founded the PER practice with the also architects Pep Bonet and Cristian Cirici) and concluded it when in 1984 they divided the office.

The show was designed and curated by the architects themselves, who selected a series of the most significant projects in their creative career, from the refurbishment of the Sonor establishment to the reform of Barcelona’s Palau de la Música, an emblematic intervention in which Ignacio Paricio also took part. In addition, the exhibition features urban development projects as relevant for Barcelona’s recent history as the famous Liceu plan at the Seminari, and also showcases their creations in other spheres such as the interior design or audiovisual fields. In regard to this latter one, for example, the exhibition screens the film “Miró, Otro” by Pere Portabella on the PER studio’s artistic intervention with Joan Miró.

The exhibition forms part of the COAC’s "Col·leccions" series, which seeks to raise awareness of the documentary collection owned by the Association’s Historical Archive. In this case, the materials come from the documentary collection donated in 2016 to the cultural institution by Clotet, Tusquets and Paricio.

The exhibition can be visited at the COAC headquarters in Barcelona until 7 April 2018.
