Milano Design Week 2018

The 57th Salone Internazionale del Mobile, complemented in this edition with the biennial exhibitions of bathrooms, EuroCucina and FTK (Technology for kitchens), plus SaloneSatellite—which showcases the work of emerging talent—attracted 1,841 exhibitors plus the 650 young designers of SaloneSatellite.

With its 205,000 square metres of display space, the event aimed at professionals and general public presented the latest novelties in the design of furniture, kitchens and bathrooms to the 434,509 visitors hailing from 188 countries who came to the 6-day event in Milan (from 17 to 22 April). As on previous occasions, the Salone Internazionale del Mobile was divided into three categories: Classic, Modern and Design.

The evening ceremonies included the staging of the third edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano Awards, which are aimed at companies that have made important contributions to the world of furniture and design. In this edition, the winners were CC-Tapis, Magis and Sanwa. Maurizio Riva of Riva 1920 was awarded the Special Jury Prize.

This is how Claudio Luti, the president of Salone del Mobile, described the 2018 edition: “Over the past few days we have witnessed the very best creativity, products and capacity for innovation and narration, showcased by displays with all the evocative power and enchantment of the best theatrical stagings”.

The date has now been set for the next edition: from 9 to 14 April 2019, in Milan.
