Winners of the Laus Awards 2018


8 June saw the staging of the now traditional Nit ADG Laus at Disseny Hub Barcelona, the night devoted to graphic art that is the meeting point for hundreds of industry professionals and that has become an essential referent to know the most relevant creative proposals of the year, and at which the ADG Laus Awards to Graphic Design and Visual Communication were also presented.

Of around 1,200 projects entered in the 48th edition, 242 won in five categories: Graphic Design, Digital Design, Advertising, Audiovisuals and Students. This year presented a total of 2 Grand Laus, 1 Young Talent, 23 Laus Gold, 76 Laus Silver, 138 Laus Bronze, 1 Honour Laus, 1 Laus Enterprises and Entities Award 2 Laus Aporta-Fundació Banc Sabadell Award, which includes professional and student categories.

The new “Temporada Alta” spot by Nanouk Films and “The new Identity of Escuela Massana” by Bendita Gloria won the 2 Grand Laus 2018 (Publicity and Graphic Design, respectively). The Young Talent went to Jordi Giménez Tur, for his publication “Disegno desde el helio atmosférico”. The Laus Aporta-Fundació Banc Sabadell were for “The Good Virus” project, by Contrapunto BBDO for Atelca, and “Soror” project, by Natàlia Pàmies, a student at EINA. Sónar festival won the Laus Enterprises and Entities Award in its 25th anniversary for “its particular visual world, a step always ahead of the tendencies in communication and in social networks use, in tune with its groundbreaking spirit”.

The Honour Laus was awarded to Oscar Mariné for his career. The ADG-FAD Board substantiated the award with the following assessment: “Every influence, every style and every project we may imagine build the huge figure of Oscar Mariné. Through him, the field of visual communication in Spain has been broadened. Designer, artist, communicator, trailblazer, cinephile and music lover. Creator of images that form part of the history of all of us. And an actor in key moments of the country’s cultural life. Winner of the National Design Award in 2010 and, in recognition by the ADG-FAD, winner of the Honour Laus Award 2018”.

The awarded works will be on display until 14 October in “The Best Design of the Year” exhibition at the Disseny Hub Barcelona.
