Winners of the 25th ADI Compasso d’Oro


Sixteen projects have been recognised in the 25th edition of the ADI Compasso d’Oro, the most veteran and influential awards in international design. Created in 1954, this prize is awarded according to a shortlist drawn up by the ADI Permanent Design Observatory consisting of a committee of experts, designers, critics, specialised journalists and historians, who constantly compile information, assess and select the best products.

These are the 2018 winners: Alfa Romeo Giulia automobile designed by Centro Stile Alfa Romeo for FCA Italy; Bolletta 2.0 e-billing, a Logotel design for Enel Energia; Campus, by Davide Fassi, Francesca Piredda, Pierluigi Salvadeo, Elena Perondi of the Politecnico di Milano for Politecnico di Milano – Polisocial Award; Discovery Sospensione luminaire by Ernesto Gismondi for Artemide; bathroom tap series designed by Studiocharlie for Boffi; the Fondazione Prada Museum by Office for Metropolitan Architecture for Fondazione Prada; illustrated book Food Design in Italia, by Alberto Bassi for Mondadori Electa; the Leonardiana Museum by Ico Migliore, Mara Servetto – Migliore+Servetto Architects for Consorzio AST - Agenzia per lo Sviluppo Territoriale di Vigevano e Città di Vigevano; illustrated book Matera Cityscape by Leonardo Sonnoli for Nicola Colucci; Nikolatesla electrical appliance by Fabrizio Crisà for Elica; Origami radiator by Alberto Meda for Tubes Radiatori; OS2 75 door and window structures by Alberto Torsello for Secco Sistemi; Osa heater by Ilaria Jahier, Igor Zilioli, Sergio Fiorani and Gian Luca Angiolini for Unical; Pop App ice cream parlour by IFI R&D Dept. for IFI; Skillmill sports material by Technogym Design Center for Technogym; and Vibram Furoshiki the Wrapping Sole footwear by Vibram.

The international jury also awarded 56 honour mentions, 11 awards in the Compasso d’Oro Category for Lifetime Achievement – presented by ADI to leading figures and companies in the field of Italian and international design; plus 3 awards and 10 certificates of merit in the Targa Giovani or Youth Section category for projects carried out by students of Italian design schools.

For the next edition in 2020, Italian and international proposals will be combined thereby enriching the Compasso d'Oro with a large section of products from all over the world.
