Winners of the ArtsFAD Awards 2019

At the eleventh edition of the ArtsFAD Awards, which are open to creators in any artistic discipline resident in Spain and are organised by the A-FAD (the FAD’s Artists and Artisans) to stimulate the creation of artworks of excellence for their concept, material quality and technical execution, the prizes went to the works “Tripofobia” by Luesma & Vega, “s.t. from the Cubo Hybride Heimat series” by Inés Schaikowski, and “Cancha” by Juan Manuel Benítez Grima.

The jury also awarded three recognitions: to Joaquim Cancho for the excellence of his nearly fifty-year-long career, committed to painting without concession to any kind of modishness; to Joana Cera, for having forged a creative universe with a tough and fragile sculptural soul; and to Lucía C. Pino for the “Non-Slave Tenderness” exhibition at the Miró Foundation in 2018 and her research in the field of sculpture understood as an assembly of semiotic materials.

Lastly, this edition saw the awarding of a special mention to Jordi Fulla as a posthumous tribute to his career and artistic work. The painter died suddenly in April at a peak moment in his creative output.

All shortlisted and winning works will be on display at “The Best Design of the Year” exhibition at the Disseny Hub Barcelona until 1 September.
