The Quantity Surveyors’ Association of Catalonia has presented the Catalunya Construcció Awards 2019 during the staging of the “Nit de la Construcció”, the Construction Evening. In this edition, the prize for site execution management went to Xavier Aumedes and Gemma Rius for the La Borda building, while Batlle i Roig Arquitectura won the prize for best integrated project management for the new Inditex central headquarters in Arteixo. Arderiu&Morató arquitectes and Q-Estudi 29 Assessorament Tècnic, for their part, won the prize for heritage refurbishment for the intervention in the Ca l'Alier factory in the Poblenou district. In this category, the jury also awarded an honour mention to TDB Arquitectura, OTècnica Arquitectònica and to the Vilablanch practice for the refurbishment of Casa Burés.

In the category of functional refurbishment, the award recognised Marcos Barjola and Francesc Xairó for the building of the Terrassa Mutual Insurance Station, and in the category of innovation in construction, the jury chose Fabregat&Fabregat Arquitectes and Arquitectura Tècnica Sequoia for the Serra de Noet school in Berga. The health & safety coordination award went to Raúl Zapater for an ensemble of terraced multi-family dwellings in Gavà, while the recognition for best dissertation project went to Francisco Murillo for the project to convert the Cal Masover Nou farmhouse in Hospitalet de Llobregat into a Nature School.

The staging of the “Nit de la Construcció” had its most moving moment when the Special Award for Professional Career was presented to Vicenç Tomàs Galiana, whose extensive career as a freelance quantity surveyor and as a partner of the TAC Arquitectes practice was recognised.
