Description Technical file

One of the most complicated projects to be built in a landscape, the water tower, is here resolved through an ingenious and intelligent use of the image and technology inherent to the high-voltage pylon.

“To make a water tank, something that is functionally small yet with a major impact on the territory, is a challenge and a temptation to build a sculpture.

An opportunity to shed the servitude of function and seek out the component of emotion.

We review the variables of shapes and, a little tired of formal theories, understand that industry produces perfectly aseptic, isothermal and stable containers that are infinitely better than those we could build from stone materials in the middle of the countryside.

Moreover, the philosophy behind the widely tested structures of an electrical installation is a good starting point for generating the most stable, most transparent and globally assimilated structural element.

With these two ingredients and a little bit of imagination we succeeded in placing 50,000 litres of water at a height of 22 metres to provide the necessary pressure for the village's hydraulics.

We understood to avoid an excessive manipulation of the territory out of respect for the medium.

The first step was to lay the foundations. In the second one we mounted the structure manufactured in the workshop, and in the third two powerful cranes put in the screws for fitting the tanks, valves and pumps.

The rest was easy: the photovoltaic panels provide the power to feed the pumps and the faint nocturnal lighting.

The persistent storks will fly to the stands for their nests, and the masked enclosure for the equipment transform it into the image of a wooden bird observatory”.
