The decision to divide the staircase of the retail premises into two perpendicular sections thus achieves an interesting division of the space into different areas and also greater spatial richness for the walkthrough. The volume of the staircase is integrated into a large unit holding the sales counter and the display shelving.
The colour white, here understood as the project’s principal driving force, has been applied on walls, ceilings and part of the furniture. The colour blue is also constantly present within the project: on the floor, as blue microcement, which gives it a differentiated identity of its own, and in the graphic design of the premises as a whole, the work of Francesc Moret, all worked in the same colour.
Wood is the other protagonist in this project, representing the necessary warmth required in an establishment of these characteristics. The broad variety of products forced the authors to design a neutral supporting base that would not add too much information to the whole and could also be used on the exterior. The marine birch board in a light colour was chosen as a neutral, warm base for making all of the furniture, for example the great cube shelving unit, the sales counter or the staircase. Birch was applied on the façade, covering the entirety of the two-floor height to make a clear visual feature when seen from the public roadway.
