Sky Lounge at the Indigo Hotel

Estudio Teresa Sapey

Description Technical file

This urban garden, situated in a hotel in central Madrid, allows users to enjoy a restaurant terrace whose attractive design provides the desired insulation and disconnection from the surrounding urban bustle.
The main attraction in the challenge set out by Hotel Indigo was to create a natural space in the heart of the city of Madrid. Given that the hotel boasts strongly urban characteristics, the goal was to provide a touch of colour for the hotel’s Sky Lounge, culminating in a mini aquatic and botanic universe. With the unbeatable vistas of Madrid’s sunset, this was undoubtedly an extraordinary setting for creating a cheerful and lively ambience in which one could totally disconnect from the bustle of a great city. By creating visual points of interest, a utopian design with pop roots was designed where the real protagonist is a particular vertical garden.
The bottom storey holds the bar lounge and cocktail bar, a continuation of the fresh and landscaped space of the terrace but with a far more welcoming and intimate touch. A comfortable spot, always open to Madrid’s skyline through its outstanding infinity pool. Its marine inspiration is clearly recognisable, providing spatial continuity through its predominant colours: blue and green.
An important part of the analysis of this project was reviewing the chosen materials and textures: wood, velvet, mirrors, metal and vinyl adhesives, which provide the place with the sought-after level of sophistication and turn the furniture into unique pieces. The layout of its refined décor works to create a highly qualified spatial setting. In a nod to the hotel’s location in the city, the ceiling of the restaurant has been fitted with a scale map of Madrid’s Gran Vía, built on a mirror and with references to the principal streets in the neighbourhood.
