”Peregrina” Procurators’ Office

NAN Arquitectos | Alberto F. Reiriz, Vicente Pillado, Wenceslao López

Description Technical file

This attractive interior design project dominated by a play of geometries that defines and structures the working space uses the simplicity of its palette of materials as its main feature.
The programme is a simple one: a procurators’ office for receiving customers in a reduced space. The proposal was to design a body that would complete the requirements inherent to the functional programme, which gave rise to an element around which the entire project was to revolve: a great working table containing the computer stations, at the same time operating as the meeting space.
The volume features a series of irregular-shaped sloping planes which the architects decided to make use of for implementing the project. In this way, and making the most of the existing partitions, a series of geometries emerge that are similar to the existing ones, where the material was changed in order to emphasise their function, mainly in the storage and toilet area. The space is open-plan, free of any partition; only the toilets and the storeroom have been concealed through the introduction of a sculptural piece diluted into the sloping planes coming down from the ceiling.
Despite this being a small project, a major design effort was made, which is mainly discernible in the central table and in the volume that envelops the toilets. The most significant aspect of the central table was the resolve to play with a major element, the very large and very heavy tabletop, which is supported by elements of differing dimensions that in some cases pierce it from one side to the other to provide continuity.
The volume containing the toilets and the small storage space grows and opens up like a tree towards the ceiling, giving the project an organic touch, completed with a perimeter of shelves and storage spaces that support the workspace and enclose it in formal terms. There is also a useful and functional complement: a panel in perforated white wood that operates as a coat rack and conceals the electrical panel.
This is a comprehensive architectural project in which everything from the shell to the furniture has been designed in order to provide a homogeneous image, a brand image.
